Condor Outdoor has come a long way since I was first introduced to them at Shotshow in 2008.  Condor was then an up and coming company trying to build a reputation in the soft goods lines among men and women interested in adventuring and shooting.  I started carrying their line of goods shortly after that, which gave me a good point of view to watch the company as it matured.

The company listened to its dealers and its customers. Improvements across their entire line of goods began to show up based on suggestions and reviews.  Today, Condor Products have emerged as some of the better mid-range pieces of equipment on the market.

In this article, we’ll specifically be looking at the Condor 3 Day Assault Pack and discussing:

What I Like about this Backpack

Perfect Size

Personally, the size of this backpack is so versatile that it is useable for almost any application.  The Condor Outdoor 3 Day Assault Pack is small enough to be used as a day bag for those who carry a backpack as part of their everyday carry.

The backpack will also perform as an overnight bag for short trips. However, I make the most use of these backpacks as the container for go-bags and three-day survival bags.

Creating a Survival Bag

tactical backpack can carry heavy loads, have enough space and multiple compartments to secure gears

I have used the Condor Outdoor 3 Day Assault Pack as the backpack of choice to build numerous versions of a go-bag, get-home bag, or three-day survival bag for myself, my family, and friends.  I tailor the contents of each bag to the person for whom it is intended, based on their lifestyle, their needs, and some essential criteria that I believe every such bag should contain.

Regardless of the contents, the Condor 3 Day Assault Pack is a perfect foundation for these types of uses.

I have some factors that I find useful for judging a backpack that I intend to use.  When I look at a new backpack or a backpack like the Condor Outdoor 3 Day Assault Pack, I use these factors to give me a consistent set of feedback about the product.

Factors to Consider

Construction

handyman, construction site, workers

Quality of construction and durability of materials are at the top of my list when looking at bags of any kind.  The Condor Outdoor 3 Day Assault Pack gets top marks in this category.

Condor Outdoor uses 1000D nylon material that is rugged and wear-resistant.  One of my Condor Outdoor 3 Day Assault Packs has been in use for more than ten years and, in many ways, looks almost brand new.

Zippers

Zipper flaps

One of my pet peeves is zippers.  Zippers are a place that many companies striving to produce a reasonably priced product will cut back.  Condor has met the test using the highest quality large zippers available and outfitting those zippers with generous weather guards.

Interior Organization

A well designed and constructed backpack will have the means to allow you to organize your gear correctly, keep it in place, and make finding what you need a quick and easy exercise.  Too many cheap bags are just big open, confined spaces.

This is not so for the Condor Outdoor 3 Day Assault Pack. It has mesh pockets in the main compartment, perfect for smaller items and compression straps to keep larger items properly stowed and in place. Breaking the Condor Outdoor 3 Day Assault Pack into three distinct compartments means the gear is easily retrieved.

Comfort

You can have the highest quality construction and materials in a backpack, but if it isn’t comfortable, it is almost worthless.   Condor has designed the carry system on the 3 Day Assault Pack to be an easy, comfortable carry even when loaded to the maximum.  Generously padded and adjustable shoulder straps, a chest tension strap, and a waist belt allow you to fit this backpack to your own carry needs.

Worth a Look

In my opinion, Condor 3 Day Assault Pack is an often overlooked option for all sorts of soft outdoor gear.  This pack is a true overperformer for me in many ways.

If you are looking for a rugged, dependable, and well-designed backpack with spacious compartments, external side compression straps, hydration bladder compartment, molle webbing for equipment attachment, body contour shoulder straps, waist strap, etc. that won’t break your budget, you really should look at this backpack or one of the other designs by Condor Outdoor.
