Leatherman’s multitools boast second-to-none quality and offer an array of tools that can help you fix things without your toolbox.
The Charge Plus TTi one of the company’s most popular multitools – and for a good reason. The original Charge had a practical design, and the Plus TTi version packs the excellent frame with premium materials and new tools.
The Titanium build is one of the tool’s most significant selling points, but there’s a lot more to consider other than the look and feel when buying a multitool.
I will review the multitool in detail to determine if it lives up to its reputation.

Leatherman Charge Plus TTi Multitool Review
The first thing I noticed is that the Charge Plus TTi looks a lot like the Wave Plus.
The only difference in the toolset is that the Plus TTi adds a cutting hook on the back of the serrated knife.
But even at a glance, the Charge Plus TTi looks like a higher-end tool.
Size and Build
The high-quality of Leatherman’s products is what makes them popular, and the Charge Plus TTi is no different from any other Leatherman product.
The tool has a distinct design, with part-smooth, part-textured Titanium scales. Although the tool is only 4 inches long, it weighs 8.89 ounces, making it one of the heaviest multitools the company makes.
I find the weight a little off-putting since Titanium is supposed to be lightweight. But since Titanium is a lot more durable than steel, I can work with the extra weight.
You can access four of the main tools without needing to open the handles, and the slightly rounded edges of the handles ensure that the butt of the handle never cuts into the palm of your hand.
Tools
The multitool uses the standard butterfly fold configuration and has a total of 19 tools.
All tools except the pliers have a locking mechanism, but one disadvantage is that only the wire cutters are replaceable.
Knives
The tanto-style straight blade is one of the best knife blades I have seen on a multitool. The blade is made of S30V stainless steel, which is known to hold a super sharp edge. The steel is also corrosion-resistant.
The serrated blade uses a different 420HC stainless steel, but both the blades are 2.9 inches long.
There is a cutting hook on the back of the serrated blade that does an excellent job of slicing through tape and cordage.
Pliers
The pliers are excellent – the regular pliers have a bite pattern that joins up perfectly. The pliers also have a needlenose section, which is standard in most Leatherman multitools.
The shape of the handles, coupled with round notches on both sides of the pliers, allows you to apply a lot of controlled force.
A crimper is built into the pliers themselves, which is a unique design choice.
Wire Cutter
The wire cutters can slice through both soft and hard wire effortlessly. The cutters are replaceable and use 154CM stainless steel.
Screwdriver and Bit Drivers
The multitool comes with a medium-sized flathead screwdriver, a small bit driver, and a large bit driver.
The interchangeable bit drivers snap into the bit holder. The multitool comes with seven useful steel bits, including a Philips bit and a hex bit.
Scissors
The spring-action scissors glide through thinner material like paper and manage to pop back open when cutting through relatively thicker material like cardboard.
File, Ruler, Saw, And Openers
You can access the double-sided file without opening the handles. The wood/metal file can take jagged edges off wood, metal sheeting, and pipes with ease.
The diamond file makes sharpening knives, axes, and other bladed tools a breeze.
The saw is the same size as the blades – 2.9 inches – and can cut through an inch of wood.
The can/bottle opener is a standard part of Leatherman tools, but I found it to be tighter than other tools.
Other Tools
The Charge Plus TTi comes with an eight-inch long ruler and a wire stripper, which is a small notch on the side of the opener tool.
Pocket Clip
The included pocket clip has an excellent design, but it does have a little play.
Accessories
The multitool comes with a nylon sheath that has three pockets. The quality snap ensures that the multitool never slips out, and its belt loop can accommodate belts up to 1.75 inches wide.
Warranty
Leatherman gives all customers a 25-year limited warranty that you can claim on their website.

What People Are Saying…
Customers are happy with the premium multitool’s quality, but I noticed some common complaints.
Customers report that the multitool has a rough finish, which takes away from the charm of getting a Leatherman. Also, many customers say that the action is not smooth.
While these are not dealbreakers, the errors are disappointing, considering that the Charge Plus TTi is one of Leatherman’s most expensive products.
