Leatherman Wingman Multitool Review
This tool dates back in 1983 when Leatherman was established. Over the years, the evolution of this multitool is worth noting. This is why when you have this tool; you are sure of tackling even the most challenging situations in the survival world.
The 14 Tools
Holding this kit in my hand, I couldn’t believe it could accommodate 14 tools at once. I was surprised as the tool included Spring-action pliers, Spring-action wire cutters, Spring-action wire strippers, Spring-action scissors, Package opener, Bottle and can opener, Screwdrivers, Knife, File, and a Ruler.
I found the knives and scissors suitable for tackling most of the outdoor situations. I could even use the knife to scrape paint, cut ropes, break down boxes, and trim wood plus other random tasks. Thanks to the 2.6” blade and the serrated blade side.
The screwdrivers were also efficient. I liked the flathead and Philips drivers. They worked exceptionally well on both the standard and delicate screws. As a construction worker, I believe this is the most thoughtful addition to this tool.
The 1.5-inch ruler wasn’t that useful but aided in taking measurements when the tape measure wasn’t available. Additionally, I used the bottle opener once, and it was excellent in popping the bottle tops in a single pop.
I will soon be working on my wiring, and hopefully, the other tools will come in handy all the time.
Overall design
I hate bulkiness, and Leatherman Wingman Multitool was one compact tool with an impressive modern design. The inclusion of spring in nearly every tool configuration makes storage easier. After use, I could easily fold the tool into a small compact design then clip it to my pocket.
The Superior quality
One thing that I take seriously before purchasing any tool is quality. How long can this tool last me? If my tool can promise to age with me, then that’s where I invest. I took my time to asses this tool. First, it was made from a quality 420 HC Stainless Steel with a tungsten coating.
Therefore, it is water-resistant, and the overall lifespan is promising. I have been using the tool each passing day, and it never ages. If you are looking for a tool that will meet or even exceed your expectations, then this is it.
Dimensions and Portability
I was in search of an excellent portable handheld tool. Luckily, I got Leatherman Wingman Multitool. It is precisely what I wanted. When the tool is closed, it fits in your palm. The actual dimensions, when closed, are 3.8 inches. It felt like carrying a light feather in my hand with the 7oz weight of this tool. When compared to the close competitors like Charge TTI, then you get a good reason to love the Wingman tool. The small size and lightweight nature make it portable.
Still on portability, a slight inconsistency, I would point out is the absence of a belt sheath or pouch. If you hate carrying things in your pocket, you will have to incur an additional cost while you buy them separately.
Value and warranty
I decided to acquire this tool because of its value. I got impressed with how the tool could easily take on various survival tasks. The manufacturer gives a 25-year warranty and I am certain that the tool will last me for a lifetime.
